A deeply spiritual and moving worship service of Holy Week, Tenebrae, derives from the Latin meaning “into the Darkness.” Antiphons and responses are sung, scripture passages are read and candles are extinguished until the sanctuary is dark. The service ends with “crashing” noise. Worshippers depart silently into the veil of night.
